Meet Our District Leaders

  During a few special services we will have an opportunity to meet with the Executive Leadership of the North Texas District Council of the Assemblies of God. The services will follow:

     Sunday - Jan.14, 2007:  Meet our Superintendent Rev. Vic Schober

   Vic Schober, superintendent of the North Texas District, brings a wealth of experience from his forty years as an ordained minister; most of this time was spent in serving as a senior pastor either in Houston or Austin.  His last position as senior pastor was at the Church of Glad Tidings in Austin, where he served for twenty-seven years, January 1976 to June 2003. It was during this time as senior pastor that the church grew from approximately 200 to over 1600 people who called Glad Tidings their church-home.  With twelve full-time ministers on staff a full-range of ministries emanated from  GT  including a strong pastoral care counseling

center, a vibrant Master’s Commission ministry, and several outreaches to children like Royal Family Kids Camp and the Neighborhood Church.
      He is a graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God University and the University of Houston.  From 1970 to 1974 Vic Schober served the South Texas District Assemblies of God as their District Youth Director.  He has ministered in over 50 youth camps both in the United States and overseas and has ministered in over 30 nations of the world.  For over twenty-five years he had a daily radio ministry in Austin called ‘God’s Promises.’  During that time frame he directed Glad Tidings into becoming a leading mission’s church’ in NTD with the church giving almost one million dollars in 2002 to Assemblies of God mission’s ministries at home and abroad.
     He served as the presbyter for the Austin Section for thirteen years and as an executive presbyter for NTD for five years.  He continues to be on the executive presbytery.  He is also serving as a general presbyter, a member of the Board of Regents and executive board of Southwestern A/G University, and a member of the board of the Pleasant Hills Children’s Home.
     He and his lovely wife, Naomi, have been married for 44 years and have two married children, Cindy and Jonathan, both are in active ministry, and they have nine grandchildren, all of whom attend the Church of Glad Tidings in Austin.

     Sunday - Jan.28, 2007:  Meet our Secretary/Treasurer Rev. James R. Jackson

   Reverend James R. Jackson currently serves as secretary-treasurer of the North Texas District Council.

Prior to his election to this position in October of 1999, Brother Jackson served as senior pastor of First Assembly of God in Gainesville, Texas, for 17 years (1982-1999). He filled the position of presbyter for the Denton Section from 1987-1999, and continues to serve the district as a general presbyter and executive presbyter, positions he has held since 1993.
     Brother Jackson has worked with the district in a wide range of areas. He has served on the district Finance Committee, the district Missions Committee, and acted as chairman of the district Budget Committee. In the West Texas District, Brother Jackson held the position of District Youth Director from 1970-1976, served as a sectional presbyter for 5 years (1977-1982), and held the position of President of the Board of Directors for Teen Challenge of West Texas.
     Brother Jackson has served on the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Board of Regents since 1993, and on the Board of Directors of Pleasant Hills Children’s Home in Fairfield, Texas.

     Sunday - March.11, 2007:  Meet our Assistant Superintendent / Missions Director                      Rev. Rick DuBose

   Pastor Rick DuBose has been the senior pastor of Sachse Assembly of God since March 1987.

     While under his pastorate, the church has grown from 17 people to in excess of 800.  It has become one of the leading missions churches in the North Texas District, but continues to keep its focus on its own neighborhood.
     Before coming to Sachse Assemblyhe pastored for three years in Hallsville, Texas.  He started his ministry as a youth pastor at First Assembly of God in Mesquite, Texas.  In 2000, he was honored by the city Chamber of Commerce as Man of the Year.  He served on the Assemblies of God World Missions Board from 2001-2003. He has served as Presbyter of the North Dallas Section for the North Texas District since 2001 and as Executive Presbyter for the North Texas District since 2003.
